Once women start using less foundation, often less is more, the next question I hear is:
"So… should I still be using powder?"
Powder often becomes the product that suddenly feels wrong or cakey on mature skin.
This happens because:
Skin produces less oil over time
Natural texture shows more
Powder clings to dryness
Too much powder removes the skin's natural softness
My biggest tip: think of powder as a strategic and targeted product, not a full-face step.
Use it only where you truly get shiny — usually the centre of the face — and avoid areas with fine lines.
Not all powders behave the same on mature skin either. Finely milled, translucent formulas tend to sit on the skin rather than sink into it. And always use a fluffy brush, not a dense one.
